The best thing about creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces is that I can do it YOUR way! If you see one of my creations and think, “I’d like that – but in blue”, chances are, I can do it for you.
The way I work, is that I find objects that others think of as trash, then I make something beautiful out of it. These “finds” are truly one-of-a-kind and can’t be replicated. However – I can come close to many of the items I’ve created.
Take a look at these custom pieces. I’ll try to include the back story on each. Contact me (click here) if you see something you’d like me to create for you.
This piece was contracted by a friend of mine who recently lost a family member. She wanted something she could give as a gift that was #1 a cardinal, and #2 was masculine. I think I nailed it. She loved it!
An acrylic cardinal is set inside the inner ring that spins separately from the outer ring. Both metal rings are adorned with red and white beads with accents of black, reflecting the vivid colors of the male cardinal.
Cardinals, in almost all religions, is a positive symbol. In this case, I must believe, this cardinal is a visit from a lost loved one. To learn more about the meaning of a cardinal, click here.
I’ve made many similar cardinals like this. I keep getting requests for them. Though no two will be exactly alike, these are made from easily sourced materials, so I can do something very similar for you. I’ve also made these dual spinning suncatchers with bluejays and eagles.
This piece is a miniature scene suncatcher that is designed to hang in a sunny window. It captures a moment in time in the dusty town of Tombstone, Arizona. The inspiration was one of those old-timey photos taken of a couple on a recent vacation to Tombstone.
The base is an old serving tray that has long-lost its glass insert. The tiny “window” is a picture frame that was once part of a necklace. The sepia photo inside depicts the dusty streets of old Tombstone, and one imagines that it’s Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday themselves on their way to the saloon to down a few cold ones. The barmaid sits on the bar. A cowboy sits on a stool as they cheer with tiny, miniature mugs of cold brew.
The beads that surround the base and dangle from below are mostly antique, found on an old necklace that had seen better days. When placed in a sunny window, this miniature scene, part of my “It’s a Small World” Collection, sparkles.
This piece is truly one-of-a-kind. I do, however, have other bases that would lend themselves to creating another miniature scene with an old west vibe.

Many of the custom pieces I do are memorials for lost loved ones. This particular design makes me sad because it is for a young lady who died. Without going into specifics, it was a death that broke a lot of hearts.
Alexia, throughout her short life, was surrounded by doves. They flocked around her and, when my customer asked for a suncatcher for Alexia’s mother, the only requirement was a single dove to be the centerpiece. I thought the dove in this piece was perfect to reflect Alexia in Heaven.
The rounded, cast-iron top is a door pull that I converted into a base for the dove. I pulled the colors of blue and white from the dove ornament. I thought the use of white quartz healing stones was appropriate, to aid in the healing process of the mother mourning for her lost daughter.
This can be made again (although never the exact same thing) because most materials are easily found. I can imagine a crystal hummingbird or butterfly as the centerpiece.
